I am a freelance writer and project manager, and the former Executive Director of the Chhandam Institute of Kathak Dance, where I am still involved in teaching and studying kathak, a classical form of dance from northern India. In a previous life I was an urban planner, working internationally to bring water and electricity to poor neighborhoods of major cities. My areas of professional writing expertise include urban development, international affairs, history, geography, public health and arts and culture. I was raised in Paris, France, by an American mother and an Indian father.

I am excited to have signed on with She Writes Press for the publication of my novel, FAINT PROMISE OF RAIN, in October 2014. (There's a trailer for it on my site as well as at faintpromiseofrain.com) It is set in India in the 1550s. I am working on a second novel, also set in India, but in the nineteenth century.
