I have played around with writing a bit all my life...a little memoir for my children, some poetry, some flash fiction and short, short stories... but started to get more serious about it 3 years ago. I've had a teenaged girl floating around in my head for a long time, so I've given her a life in a little YA novella which is now out to a developmental editor.
I belong to a local writing group and also participate in a spin-off of that group - 6 women who critique each other's work and meet for lunch once a month to socialize and discuss writing issues. I find that the knowledge, encouragement, honesty and friendship shared in both groups to be invaluable, and I hope She Writes will also offer that.
