My name is Desireé Thomas. I am an African American female, with a French name, and that can speak Spanish. I've moved 6 times within 4 years, went to four elementary schools (three that were all black and one that was a little more diverse),and graduated from a predominately black College Prep school. Every house that I've moved into was in a black neighborhood. Currently, I stay in Inglewood, which is known as the “ghetto” in today’s time. All my life, I've been surrounded by boarded up houses, murder, and people of my own race.

I have been writing since my mother died back when I was 7 years old. Since then, I have been shaping and molding my style. Recently, I have been trying to identify what genre of non-fiction literature that I fit in mostly. For a long period of time, I thought that I was a street lit writer. However, after much contemplation and reflection, I concluded that it wasn't for me.
