My purpose is to encourage a different way of thinking about contemporary societal issues and mores by telling compelling tales about ordinary people. I hope to present another perspective on universal problems, and to promote a dialogue on possible resolutions.
My present work conveys the struggles of three generations of women in one family, and their lives in a racist, sexist and sometimes violent world. Among the book’s characters are the heroine who quietly toils without fanfare or applause; one who hurtles recklessly through life without regard to the effects of her actions; and another, a child lacking power or control, who suffers due to the decisions of others. The characters are people who may resemble your friend, neighbor or family member, and who confront issues of poverty, teenage pregnancy, addiction and sexual identity. Their demons are individual yet overlapping. Their stories demonstrate that, good or bad, regardless of our gifts or deficits, the struggle is the same for all of us.
