Who am I
I write stories from the perspective of young Africans, both male and female, mostly in southern African traditions. The stories are aimed at young adults and middle schoolers, yet adults read the same stories with great interest and learning regarding life in African settings and about the challenges many young Africans face. I have recently volunteered in various South African countries, in the bush, on behalf of endangered wild life, and have volunteered in an orphanage and taught children how to value their wildlife.
Books I've written, anthologies I've contributed to and any scripts or plays I've authored
Although I am American (USA), my story “The Silence Rock” has recently won a prize in Britain and will published soon in an anthology of ‘odd voices out,’ a collection of teen stories from the perspective of social outsiders.
I have also written a unpublished book called "Tembali Hunt." It narrates a hunt for a murderer on a wildlife preserve in South Africa, a murder perpetrated by an Asian poaching syndicate. I am working on a second novel about a lion theft, the lion to be sold for canned hunting.
My professional associations
I am a retired art historian, reinventing herself. I teach currently at a lifelong learning collaborative, founded originally at Brown University, but now independent of that institution.
