Who am I
I've been writing about and teaching media, cultural and fashion studies for over a decade. In addition to teaching at 2 colleges, and working as a union organizer, I recently co-founded a website that my collaborators and I hope to grow into a vibrant educational resource and cultural studies incubator.
I also write fiction, but that keeps getting bumped down the list of projects.
My Ph.D. in cultural studies is from UC Davis, and my MA in visual culture is from NYU. I currently live in Portland, OR in an apartment that seems to spontaneously generate bike parts and cat fur.

Books I've written, anthologies I've contributed to and any scripts or plays I've authored
I've served as a contributor and reviews editor for the Fashion, Style and Popular Culture Journal, contributed to Critical Studies in Fashion and Beauty and published essays on subjects ranging from fashion in the work of Charlotte Bronte to small town and rural fashion identities. I prefer to write collaboratively, and my best works are co-authored with Elise Chatelain, PhD. Together we’ve published articles on feminist pedagogy and paranormal teens in TV and film and presented numerous papers on pop culture and representations of gendered labor.
