I am an author based in Portland, Maine.

I teach at the University of Southern Maine’s Stonecoast MFA Program, and am the Jack Kerouac Visiting Writer at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell.

I also recently had the delight of teaching creative writing workshops at the YinYang Community Center in Beijing, China (www.yinyangBeijing.com) and continue to work with writing students from there and elsewhere.

I am co-founder of a wonderful creative writing lab in Portland, Maine, called The Telling Room (www.tellingroom.org), where I lead all flavors of writing workshops. Check out the great web site.
