I am the mother of a seven year old boy and have been married for nearly 12 years. A crazy beagle named Max, who we’ve nicknamed our problem child, rounds out our family. I live about a half an hour northwest of Boston.
I received my bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Northeastern University. After college and until my son was born, I had a career in human resources and career counseling. The part I enjoyed most during my years working with people is listening to their career stories. I still remain curious about what motivates an individual to work (besides the need for a paycheck), how it serves to define them, and, especially for women, how they shape their personal lives around it or vice versa.
My hobbies include reading, hiking, cooking and bicycling. I love to spend time at the beach and in the mountains. I wish I had a garden plot (we live in a townhouse) as I would very much like to learn to garden. (I did plenty of weeding and harvesting as a kid; however, my mother was the gardener.) Mostly, I love being outdoors.
I write a blog called Teri Cooks and Eats Local Food (http://terieatsandcookslocal.blogspot.com/, which is about my adventures sourcing and cooking food for my family using local and sustainable sources. Other than my blog, I write essays and life stories. Now that my son is in school full-time, I want to make a stronger commitment to my writing and hopefully finish a book length memoir about my journey to motherhood and what finally getting there came to mean.
