Who am I
I have a bachelor’s degree in French Literature from The University of Chicago, and a master’s in Library and Information Science from San Jose State University. After seven years as a website and internal news editor at an accounting firm, I began writing a memoir in 2013, and am currently working on a second draft. I’ve studied writing with Claire Dederer, Peter Mountford, Theo Nestor, Suzanne Morrison, Nicole Hardy, David Shields, and others. My essay, “Nearly Drowning,” appeared on Brain, Child magazine’s website in April 2015, and is an Editors’ Pick: 15 Favorite Website Essays for 2015. I volunteer as a writing mentor at a drop-in shelter for homeless youth aged 18 to 23, and as a library helper at my son's elementary school. For fun, I read young adult fiction, especially retellings of fairy tales, and I love to laugh.
