Who am I
Wendy Brown-Báez is a writer, teacher, performance poet and installation artist. She is the author of the writer's inspirational guidebook Heart on the Page: A Portable Writing Workshop (BookBaby, 2020), a novel Catch a Dream (BookBaby, 2018, a full length poetry collection Ceremonies of the Spirit (Plain View Press, 2009) and chapbook transparencies of light (Finishing Line Press, 2011). Wendy's poetry and prose appear in numerous literary journals. She received McKnight and Mn State Arts Board Grants to teach writing workshops in non-profits, from human services to arts organizations. Her article Why We Write: The Wounded and Enduring appeared in July/ August 2014 Poets & Writers magazine and describes the impact of teaching writing in prisons. Her essay "Pilgrimage" won 2016 National Women's Books Association contest for non-fiction. Wendy facilitates writing for healing and memoir workshops in community spaces such as healing centers, libraries, schools, churches, prisons and yoga studios.
