  • I love Jessica's suggestion. Sometimes I have luck by forcing myself to stay at the computer until my story takes greater shape. Grocery shopping, driving, walking the dogs have all yielded fruitful ideas. And other days, it just isn't happening and I let go.

    Curious what other writers do to start their brains working. Mine starts with a lot of staring, sometimes brainless television, fear, but inspiration usually strikes when I'm driving, shopping, or out with friends.
