Nice review of my forthcoming novel, Sheltering Angel
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Of all of the Titanic stories I have read, this one is my favorite. The story feels more real than the others because I've felt like I've gotten to know the passengers and what they must have felt during the Titanic disaster. For the few short days that Titanic had, I felt like I had really gotten to know her, too. I saw and felt her death throes on that terrible night. I read Sheltering Angel in one sitting. Even though I knew what the outcome would be, it still made me cry. Andrew was my favorite character. He is forever etched in my memory for his bravery and being helpful to others right up until the end. I highly recommend Sheltering Angel!

My very talented brother Butch Bryant recorded a reading of the first chapter of my 2008 nonfiction book WHILE IN DARKNESS THERE IS LIGHT. The book is available from online sellers and from the publisher Black Lawrence Press. Have a listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=92rcREdUmb4&feature=youtu.be
My forthcoming novel Sheltering Angel tells the story of real passengers on the Titanic. Many who began their journeys with bright optimism ended in tragedy. Joseph Laroche, the only African-American on the ship, was one whose future had barely begun. Read a brief account of his brief life on my blog Rosebud Writing.

This month Black Lawrence Press is accepting work for critique. I'm on board to help with creative nonfiction, and two other authors will critique poetry and fiction. The fees are reasonable, and you can check out my services here: https://blacklawrencepress.com/consultations/cnfconsultations/
I'm humbled to announce that Sheltering Angel, A Novel Based on a True Story of the Titanic, is now available for preorder from the publisher. Sylvester Monroe, author of Brothers Black and Poor—A True Story of Courage and Survival, calls Sheltering Angel “A beautifully told and poignant backstory to a piece of history we all know. Bryant is a master at finding great true stories and bringing them to life.” The story is based on the real and true story of my husband Harrison Reynolds's great-grandparents, first-class passengers aboard Titanic, and their Scottish steward Andrew Cunningham. I hope you'll come aboard with me.
