Great award for professional journalists under 35

Here's some news about three great awards ($10,000 each) for professional working journalists under 35. The Livingston Awards.I won this many moons ago for International Reporting and I still feel honored! Perhaps more important: I asked my editor if he could submit my work. It never hurts to ask. In those days you had to ask. I see that jouranalists who qualify now can simply submit their own work. So let's revise that. It never hurts to apply!Details and a link followCall for entries of work…See More

Kamy Wicoff at PEN Writers Roundtable

I wish all of you could have been there. But I know that so many shewrites members live across the country and around the world. Suffice it to say your presence was felt Wednesday evening at a PEN Writers Roundtable in Manhattan. There was a sense of international community. This, too, is obvious to all of us but probably could survive some repetition: Writers write everywhere and shewrites has engaged so many of the women who do. 12,000 at last count. (Good thing you didn't all show up!) Hooray!…See More

wubbit.com - anyone have any deep background?

Posted on May 19, 2010 at 10:01am 0 Comments

Got an email this morning from a very very brand new web start-up that will help authors who have new copies of their books sell them to books stores and I think distributors, supposedly without a middle (wo)man. I took a quick look but not a deep study of the site.

I have been looking for an easy way to do this. But this site looks very new. It seems the only risk is a $36 registration fee. Well, I am still a newspaper reporter at heart - the more information the better - so looking to… Continue

Hi Barbara! thanks for writing. I was not able to get my question about the title raised before this group. I did post it as a comment and it appeared on the right column for that day but no one responded. I wrote to the person in charge of titles who thanked me for reminding her to pick up the project again but that was all that happened. Anyway, you and a couple of friends suggested that the #171 was too high, so instead of rewriting the book, I just left the # out. I am submitting it to the publisher as we speak because they will do their evaluation anyway. I think its a much better book because of your feedback and I thank you.

Well a BIG thank you for purchasing my novel. If it's your thing, please do post your review on Amazon and Goodreads. If nothing else, it makes me all happy to know you're out there, reading up a storm for those who don't.

Welcome to the novelist group, Barbara. And nice to connect with a WOM author (from a member of the spin-off WOM-BA). I'll look forward to connecting with you!

And one upside or downside to SheWrites: my reading list grows. Your books look terrific, and your website is gorgeous.
