Forget the health benefits. There is more to working out at the gym than you may realize. It's a writer's paradise, or at least it is to me. Let me explain.
Warm up and cardio - the time to raise your heart beat and burn fat. It's also the time to watch people. Watch the interaction between men and women as they talk to each other. Take note of the body language and the language used (eavesdrop). Watch the smiles, the laughs and the flick of the hair. Look for tattoos or other…

Awhile ago I had coffee with a friend in a local Second Cup. I saw Americano posted on the board. Immediately I thought of the strong coffee I had consumed in England while on holiday. I remember mistakenly believing the English were only good at brewing tea (or are they?) Not so. Coffee is their forte, too.

As we grow older we're bound to lose touch with loved ones. Friends move away. Family members may become distant and separate themselves from us. We have the telephone, Canada Post, and the internet to keep us connected. There's always the holidays - Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter to bring us back together, if only for a short while.

Hi Deb, Thanks for the welcome! I signed up for the Farm, Ranch & Rural group, despite living in Quebec City at the moment. I grew up in rural Montana, and that is still where my heart is. I have been writing a bit about rural Quebec, since we moved here, and hope to do more of that while we are living in the province.
If you are interested, you can see my work on my personal site, fruit.root.leaf. (http://fruitrootleaf.com), or at the Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph, where I am a writer and photographer (www.qctonline.com).
Best wishes, Bethann
Meg Waite Clayton said… Deborah, Belated welcome to the novelist group! I hope you're finding your way around. If you haven't already done so, please share a little about what you're working on in the "Show Me Your Novel" discussion thread and/or share your published novels on the "Our Published Novels" one.
We do a live chat on Fridays at 3EST; instructions on how to participate are in the "Our Water Cooler" box near the top of the group page. Do join us! And we save the wall for discussion, but welcome links to helpful blog posts on the “Links to Helpful Blog Posts for Writers” thread.
I've been traveling since end of March, but am back and will look forward to seeing your font.

I'm so sorry I somehow missed your Mar 9 comment about my blogpost on Tim's coffee! Thanks for reading. Like you I may soon miss being a hockey mom, but I don't think I will ever miss cold arenas!
