How did I get here?
Contributor

Six months ago, it was an impossible dream i might hold my book in my hand. Filled with self-doubt and surrounded by so much criticism I truly felt lost. This all changed with the acknowledgement,  I knew I could tell a story. I have never claimed to be a technical genius of the english language,  try as I might. I truly believe once you recognise your weaknesses and your strengths, play to them. In my case get the story down as best you can. It is the story that is you, not where your semi-colon, apostrophe or full stop is.

Once your story is complete and you feel you can do no more to perfect it, pass it to someone else to help. An editor, copy reader etc. will then help polish your work. Self-editing is incredibly difficult and doesn't work. Fresh eyes, fresh perspective. Always remember though we are all only human, even technicians of the english language will have a difference of opinion.

All we can do is make sure we do the very best job we can. As professional a job as possible and most of all try and enjoy the process. You are a writer, be proud of this.
