  1. I am a writer, even if it took me 20 years to get that manuscript (Maids of Misfortune: A Victorian San Francisco Mystery) published and out to the world.
  2. There is absolutely nothing better than having someone who has read your book say, “I didn’t want to leave the world you created, when is the next book going to be out?”
  3. Other writers make some of the best readers.
  4. Research, while absolutely essential when writing historical fiction, can derail the actual writing process.
  5. Whether writing a comment, a blog post, a short story, an email, or a novel, writing is writing, and it all helps you develop your craft.
