Fascinating piece, Jacki, congrats. Wondering what you think of Rianne Eisler's (Wealth of Nations) efforts to convince economies to acknowledge the un/underpaid work of women? And Goldman's 10,000 women's project is inspired.
I don't believe that capitalism and doing the social good are mutually exclusive - in fact I think that it is the creative connection of the two that will truly lead to economic prosperity for many, and not just a few. I will check out Noreena Hertz... thanks, and thanks for your comment.
I'm a regular reader of the Daily Beast! Great job!
I do find it hard to believe that Goldman Sachs (or any financially bloated company) does anything for any other reason than gobbling up money. But I liked your idea. It seemed similar to Noreena Hertz's idea that there are ways to get capitalism to work for the social good (not just to fill a personal bank account) while still earning a profit. Makes sense to me!
