A lot of writers are now involved in Operation Ebook Drop. Started small, but is growing by leaps. Here's the deal. Service people in the military overseas are hungry for reading material. Many of their families have bought Kindles for them, but the problem is that the Amazon downloads are not available in places like Iraq and Afghanistan. Also, these people need FREE material. Yeah, they're willing to buy, but the question is if we're willing to give. To become an ebook donor, check the write up on Smashwords (they're supporting this effort) and see if you can donate an ebook to people serving in the military. http://blog.smashwords.com/2009/09/smashwords-supports-operation-ebook.html This explains what's going on. You can email Ed Patterson to signup. Personally, I've sent out a couple hundred free copies of my books by posting them up on Smashwords and providing a Coupon code that let's the military folk download them in whatever format for free.
