Thanks Hannah, loved your blog and signed up. I also wanted to let everyone know that in Canada you can donate your 'z' points from Zellers and The Bay as a donation towards relief for Japan. It's a great idea.
Thanks for the inspiration and insight, everyone ...
http:/ / a-nurses-world.blogspot.com/ 2011/ 03/ what-we-can-do-to-help-japan.htmlThis is my blog post on ways we can help Japan.
I live in Riverside,CA, sister city to Sendai, Japan since 1957. Our mayor has set up the Sendai Relief Fund--100% of the donations will go directly to the city of Sendai, one of the areas most devastated by the earthquake and tsunami. I am helping to organize a concert of women's spoken word, music and dance that will benefit the fund on the 26th--sisterhood helping our sister city. You can find out more about the fund and donate here: http:/ / www.riversideca.gov/ sendairelief/
Can I add the Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) to the list of humanitarian aid orgainzations.
/ www.jdc.org/ donation/ donate.aspx
Currently,in Japan, they are;
working with the Jewish Community of Japan to distribute emergency supplies to the hardest-hit Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures through JEN, a Japanese NGO.
providing a critically needed water shipment and other emergency relief supplies through JDC’s partner Afya Foundation and the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Japan's aid and development arm.
funding food and water bottle distribution in Sendai.

I am Hong Kong based and have been covering this story using a number of on-the-ground contacts. My focus has been mainly work international aid organizations. I have also been working with a Hong Kong family to get their Japanese family's story out:

You gals are great! :)
I've continued to think about how we should respond when disaster strikes half way across the globe, and so I've written another post: http:/ / laurenaliseschultz.blogspot.com/ 2011/ 03/ where-there-is-despair.html
Hi Elizabeth, Please let me know if it doesn't work.
Thanks.
hannah
Hmm. Here try this: http:/ / rantingsfromarecoveringperfectionist.wordpress.com/
Word Vision is also an excellent aid organization.
Hannah for some reason the blog given won't let me get through! Please check. Many thanks, Elizabeth.
Here's another: Indie Author's Relief Fund

This blog is a sensitive, heartfelt, compassionate look at one woman's thoughts on the aftermath of the earthquake in Japan. She's able to find the gift of gratitude from this tragedy. Send some loving support to someone who's been writing for decades but is a new blogger. It's all about love.

Here's a post I wrote for the Beacon Press blog:
Postcard from Japan: Disaster and Disability
I started a thread on Facebook for animal related assistance (and others) please feel free to use the links there to donate or post any additional animal aid sources. Japan Animal Quake Victim Assistance
Some foreign language teachers in Japan are putting together an ebook to raise money for the Japan Red Cross. For more details, check out this link:

Oh, people of Japan, I feel for you, pray for you. Your ordeal is horrific, but you are strong and resilient, and you have the will to mend and repair and the love of the human family pouring out to you in this time of great need. I hold the souls of your departed in my heart.
Keeping Spirits Alive, Lynn Henriksen
I'll check it out.

Yes, please include the Rapid Response Fund at the Funding Exchange!
As for the people in Japan, I just want to express my heartfelt sympathy to all. The pain is so deep, you can't even imagine. Its such a tragedy, my prayers are with you. Even in your triumph times.

I have been blogging about our experiences from afar at http:/ / gaijinmama.wordpress.com.
I've also been sharing news and ways to donate via Twitter - @shikokusue
I wrote about finding a way to give and how I would personally give up my "book fund money," challenging other book bloggers specifically, but others as well, to find something to sacrifice in order to contribute. I wanted to post so that others would be encouraged to donate to the relief efforts... http:/ / laurenaliseschultz.blogspot.com/ 2011/ 03/ first-opportunity.html
Thanks for putting up this thread. I think it's great to connect with others who are moved to say/do something about this tragedy.
I posted "A thousand million trillion cranes" to my blog Endless Knots last night.
I'm not sure if anyone wants to do this or not but when Nashville had that nasty flodding last summer, the women over at Do the Write thing for Nashville held an auction to benefit the relief effort. They had a whole lot of authors, agents, and people from the publishing industry in general donate anything from a query critique to signed arcs/books to phone calls to dinners with their favorite authors! They made a good chunk of change to send to Nashville and it might be something amazing to benefit Japan as well.
