On paper, you could say I'm a Brazilian-Irish, London-raised, Los Angeles-based lady who writes every single day, for magazines, books, and for myself. My passions lie in the worlds of rock 'n roll, modern art, fashion, world travel, road tripping, good old-fashioned love, beauty, cinema, fairy tales, quantum physics--and all other cool things that can be filed under the word "Magic".
I believe that every single person I have interviewed, whether they be an A-list celebrity or a graffiti artist or a punk icon or a criminal or a heavy metal guitarist or a civil rights campaigner, has taught me something unique and fundamental about life. The most memorable interviews--good and bad--have taught me new things about myself.
As a journalist and ghostwriter, my job has been to listen, to discern, to explore, to respect and to relay information to readers in a way that hopefully reflects the truth of my subject in the moment I experienced them. It's a responsibility I take very seriously. There's nothing more fulfilling than helping someone lift a story out of themselves, a story they may have been wanting to tell for a while. That's the true privilege of my work--I get to inhabit different lives, listen to the lessons of different lifetimes, and write them down so everyone--me included--can get a kick out of it all.
Being a journalist has allowed me to interact with storied publishing institutions (LA Times, Harper Collins, Variety, Hearst, Village Voice, LA Weekly), cutting edge art and music publications (Dazed and Confused, Paper, Juxtapoz) and all the brilliant writers, editors, photographers and friends that come with them.
Being a fiction writer has allowed me to set my imagination loose on the real-life inspirations that surround me. The process makes the world feel more colorful than it ever would have before.
It's been an amazing ride so far, and I'm really grateful for my parents, who always bought me books, encouraged my curiosity, and urged their little girl to go out and explore the world. It's what I was born to do.
