Besides academic articles and a book (coming next Fall) on Art History, I am a translator, blogger and writer. So far, I have written personal essays and short stories. I am working on a longer piece now, which weaves personal memory into fictional settings.
Sometimes I write in Portuguese, sometimes in English. Writing in English is a recent thing. You may read about this new adventure at http://christinabakerkline.wordpress.com/2010/05/27/lost-in-translation/ and http://www.shewrites.com/profiles/blogs/the-motivator-guest-post-by.
Some of the first, short pieces I wrote in English can be found at On Being with Krista Tippet (http://www.onbeing.org/blog/humming-bbc-melody-fascist-portugal/2864) and at She Writes (http://www.shewrites.com/profiles/blogs/the-motivator-clara-paulino.
As my daughters were growing up I wrote short essays for a parent-oriented magazine on the joys and travails of a professional woman raising twins. The essays were published together in Portugal, in one volume called 'Danças com Gémeos' (Dancing with Twins).
My short story "Zeza" was published in Even Birds Are Chained To The Sky & Other Tales (The Fine Line, October 7, 2011) (http://www.amazon.com/Even-Birds-Chained-Other-Tales/dp/0956761054)
My story of lost love, "Twice the River Flows," was published in Lost Magazine @ http://www.lostmag.com/issue40/river.php (March 2011)
My story "South. Surprising Enounters in Lonely Places" was published in The Big Wold Magazine in Jan. 2011 (http://www.bigworldmagazine.com/south/)
I stopped blogging some time ago due to professional demands on my time. I will resume shortly. You may find my blog at http://clarapaulino.wordpress.com. Some sections of that blog can be found here at She Writes.
