I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving! Somehow--by hook, by crook, by bribe of turkey and stuffing--DON'T KILL THE BIRTHDAY GIRL: TALES FROM AN ALLERGIC LIFE made it to the FINAL round of the 2011 Goodreads Choice Awards, in the "Food & Cooking" category.
That's right, I managed to knock out Paula Deen, Butter Queen! But some pretty intimidating books remain. I might not be as famous as Gwyneth Paltrow, as storied as the El Bulli kitchen, or as provocative as "Why We Get Fat." But I am a woman determined to share my story, and to show that those with food allergies can still love food, celebrate cooking, and enjoy our lives.
The support of my community--friends, family, and fellow SHEWRITERS--has gotten me this far. With the total vote tally nearing 600,000, there is no question that passion for reading is alive & well in our culture. Sorry to be a broken record, but even if you've voted once before--even if you've voted twice before--the slate is cleared for this, the final round.
So please, please take five second to head over to Goodreads and vote for DKTBG here:
