On Boxing Day morning, I came across a tweet about the "Top Ten Blogs for Writers: The Winners". I was surprised to see that She Writes did not make it to the final 10, or even the final 20, on this list.

I looked at several of the top 20 blogs. Yes, they are excellent sites. I thought that perhaps one of the reasons for the blatant omission of She Writes is the fact that SW is much more than a blog; yet, many of the ‘winners’ are also communities of writers as well as providers of writing services. Maybe this Top 10 (or 20) list is not an influential one. Maybe it doesn't matter at all. But it made me think about the important role that She Writes has played in my life over the past few months.
I am a university professor who is new to the world of blogging and tweeting. While I have been a fairly prolific writer, She Writes has helped to radically transform my approach and practice as a writer. It has expanded my thinking and practice about how and what I write, for whom, and why. It was my top writing inspiration in 2010. It is, in my view, the Top Blog For Writers.
Amen.
