I may very well be insane. In 12 months I have assembled my own team to build a four part platform: book, film, online, events. Why? Because I think its about time for us guys to break the silence and SPEAK. The book is 31 first person essays about being a father, son, husband and worker written by men of all walks of life: rich, poor, black, white, gay, straight, famous, ordinary. From guys in Iraq to guys doing life sentences and everything in betwen. The film follows 10 of those guys. The website (www.goodmenproject.org), fb fan page and youtube videos are all meant to foster the discussion. The events are where we have really tried to take a different approach. I started our book tour inside Sing Sing. We will finish in Hollywood with a screening of our film with a panel afterwards with Matt Weiner, the creator of Mad Men, and Shepard Fairey, the controversial visual artist, both talking about their view of manhood. Would love to hear what you think. This is our launch press release with some cool video clips including the day I went into Sing Sing scared out of my mind to do my first reading for 14 lifers: http://pitch.pe/31091
