I'm proud to announce that I'm the happy owner of a popular eReader. I didn't come to my decision lightly.

I spent the last two weeks or so bugging my family members and my Facebook friends with questions: Is the Kindle Fire hard on the eyes? Should I go with a Kindle Touch or one with the keys? Should I pay for no ads or not?

All of my questions were answered - thanks guys and gals - and my conclusion was to buy an Amazon Kindle Touch with ads. (You hardly notice the ads. So save yourself the $40 to pay for no ads.)

Here are five reasons why I love my Kindle Touch.

The Amazon Kindle Touch is easy on the eyes

I'm a full-time article writer and an author. That means I'm on my laptop all day. One of the occupational hazards of being a full-time writer who uses a laptop all day is eye strain. I bought my eReader because I love to read at night. But when night comes, my eyes need a break. The Kindle Touch uses a "high-contrast E Ink display" that "delivers clear, crisp text and images that you can read without eye strain." (The Kindle Fire would likely contribute to my eyestrain.)

Listen to what Vera Sweeney from "Lady and the Blog" says about her Nook. (She's talking about the Nook and not the Amazon Kindle, but her problem was the same problem I was experiencing. She reads at night, as I do, after being on the computer all day. Although she gets migraines and I don't, we both experience eye strain from extended time on the computer.)

The Kindle Touch gets you a book is less than a minute

I don't know if it's less than a minute, but it sure seems like it. When you order a print book from Amazon, if you go with express shipping, the most you'll have to wait to receive it is overnight.  That's great, but you'll pay for overnight shipping, even if you're a Prime member. (Although, Prime members pay significantly less.) I love the fact that I don't even have to wait overnight for an eBook with my Amazon Kindle. The device is connected to my Internet. I choose my book and presto! It's there in what seems like less than a minute. More like 30 seconds. I love it! It feeds the impatient part of me.

As a Prime member, I can get free books with my Amazon Kindle

Prime members get books for free with the Kindle Owners' Lending Library. There are more than 50,000 titles, including New York Times bestsellers. I can get a book a month, and there are no due dates. Currently, I'm reading Book in a Month by Victoria Lynn Schmidt. (It's an excellent book, by the way.)

The Kindle Touch is easy to maneuver

I checked out the Kindle at Best Buy before I bought it on Amazon. The people who own the Kindle (with the keypad) say they love theirs, but I love the simplicity of the Kindle Touch. I can either touch or swipe my finger on the screen, and that's it.

The Kindle Touch is lightweight

This is a device that fits nicely in my purse. It weighs only 7.5 ounces.

My Amazon Kindle holds 3,000 books

Another big reason I bought an eReader is because I don't want to contribute to my large amount of print books.  There's only so much room in my home, and I have no bookshelf space left. I'm tired of staring at books I've stacked on the floor.
